Catcher in the Rye book cover redesign

This is a book cover redesign of the book the Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. The cover design was inspired by the theme of permanence vs impermanence that is present throughout the book . The method of image making is handmade collage; newspaper burned then collaged onto a canvas surface to protect the integrity of the collage. Next masking tape was then layer strategically onto the the newspaper with the placement of typography in mind. Hand down type is used on the front cover as well as on the spine and partially used on the back of the book. Project done in conjunction to another book redesign; photos included to juxtapose the methods of image making.
